So you have downloaded your MetaTrader platform ready to place your first trade. But you find green and white bars, red and white lines, blue and yellow icons clogged together. You stop for a minute and ask yourself, Is this what I am looking for? You start messing around with the settings but you end up destroying everything. Don’t worry today’s lesson is specified on how to set you a custom template on the MetaTrader platform for easy visualization and make the process of chart analysis easy.
STEP 1: OPEN A TRADING ACCOUNT
In order to trade you need a trading account if you don’t have one you can open an account from our recommended broker in the link HERE
STEP 2: DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THE PLATFORM.
Once you have opened an account you need a platform that you will be using to place orders. The platform will be installed directly to your PC Click the link HERE to download the platform. Once you have installed you can proceed to the next step.
STEP 3: SETTING UP A VISUAL FORMAT.
Up to this point, this is how your platform looks. Looks chunky right? Don’t worry.
Select one of the pairs by clicking restore. This will select the window and fit it on the screen. (see below)
STEP 4: SETTING UP THE FIRST TEMPLATE
After selecting the window this is the time now to set up your template properties and you can do that by right-clicking your mouse and scroll all the way down to properties.
This will take you to a window like this below
Now you can change the colour of every detail, you will see real-time changes on the right side. You can also copy mine if you like just to make it simple and once you have done that press ok and the whole chart layout will change to your settings. (see illustration below)
STEP 5: SAVING THE TEMPLATE AND APPLYING IT TO OTHER CHART LAYOUTS
You will notice that its only one chart that has changed and the rest still have the default customization. Now in order to save it for further use, right-click and choose Template > then save a template (see image below)
Now another window will prompt and ask you to save the name of the template you have just created and (Type in a name of your choice) and click save.
Apply to all chart windows by choosing the chart window and right-clicking, then choose template > then choose the saved template you typed while saving.
After that, you are all set and ready to use the new template.
